Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a tool usually used with websites to capture invaluable visitor data. Google Analytics gathers details about site traffic, your visitors and their actions. Basically, it has the ability to show you where visitors to your site come from – be it via a pay-per-click advert, an organic link, digital collateral such as links in PDF documents or via your email marketing campaign. So, how do you set up your email newsletter as a referrer in your Google Analytics account?
You'll first need a Gmail account in order to set up Google Analytics. Then copy and paste the tracking code that Google Analytics generates for you and add it between the header and body tags of your website pages. Next, enable Google Analytics in your GraphicMail account. (video link) After you have sent your next newsletter from your GraphicMail account, tracking begins if the link in your newsletter sends readers to a page on your site. The nsewsletter is recognized by Google as the referrer source, and specifies which specific link in this referrer source (i.e. My Newsletter) was clicked.
